Cautions:
As
the Biolysate™ may increase the absorption of any medication
that the patient may already be taking, patients on medication
should consult their doctor before taking this supplement. If
you are pregnant or nursing consult your physician. M.S. patients
should initially take half a capsule only, as symptoms may be
either aggravated or alleviated, depending on the individual.
Diabetics should only take this product under supervision of a
physician as it may reduce insulin requirements. Organ-transplant
patients should not take this supplement.
Dosage:
Research
published in the South African Journal of Science indicates that
a good diet will supply 200-300mg of plant sterols per day, and
that the body's pools of plant sterols rapidly diminish when the
diet is deficient in phytonutrientss. Modern food processing methods
tend to destroy the phytonutrient content, and in addition the
body has difficulty in absorbing what phytonutrient content there
is left due to the presence of fats in the diet, which inhibit
the absorption of phytonutrients. This product has been formulated
to supply the recommended daily intake.
One
capsule per day is normally adequate to avoid colds, flu and most
allergies, but people with more serious conditions may want to
initially double the dose for two weeks taking one in the morning
and one at night. As fat prevents absorption it must be taken
with water or fruit juice (NOT MILK) 45mins before eating and
at least two hours after eating. The body can tolerate high dosages
of beta-sitosterol and in one study on cholesterol, participants
were given 3 grams per day. The side effects of these high doses
were occasional mild constipation, diarrhea or flatulence, and
were comparable in frequency to the placebo.
The
capsule dissolves in the system after approx 7 minutes, and enters
the top third of the small intestine after approx 30 minutes.
The response peaks after approx 6 hours and slowly declines over
approximately the next 36 hours. Daily intake is important to
maintain the body's pool of beta-sitosterol.
